ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

It is hard to explain to someone who has never been in a hurricane or tropical storm, that what is coming...is not just a rain shower with a little wind, nor is it even a somewhat more intense thunderstorm. It is a whole lot more than that.

My Good Boss, having never been in a tropical storm or hurricane here, does not understand fully just why I and the other tutors are saying... "It might not be a Good Idea to be on the road as it makes landfall." (that would be about 7 am as it is estimated now.

He wants to stay open tomorrow. He thinks the television is just exaggerating a little.

Well, okay, they probably are. But. That doesn't change the bare facts that one does NOT drive to work as a (possible hurricane) big storm comes lumbering in, slamming the coast line and drenching the whole area. And did I mention that there would be a little wind associated with the storm?

Arrrrggghhh!!

My only hope is that the other tutors agree with me and they are approaching him with the same information I and the television have been giving him.

I hope he believes at least one of us.

'Cause, folks, ain't NONE of us gonna be drivin' to work tomorrow morning, unless the storm takes a drastic northerly path, and given the prevailing conditions, that ain't likely to happen.

Sigh.

  1. Been there, done that! I mean...I've never been a tutor, but I have lived in Houston. Stay home and stay safe!

  2. Hi Nancy, I can relate to staying home if there is a cyclone forcast.
Better save then sorry! I had only one bad experience and I wouldn't like an other one, and that was just a very bad storm out of the blue. I was very scared driving home slow like walking under wild trees no sight of the road, rain, I had to move because of the trees
hurtling down big branches, it was sheer luck arriving home without accident!

  3. I believe you!

Even though this will be my first one, too.

Not that this helps your work situation any.

    Live and learn, I guess

    He'll believe you on Wednesday.

  4. Isn't that just like an all-knowing boss to think they know what's best. Hopefully he'll get some sense knocked into him. While I've never been in a tropical storm, I've been through tornadoes before. Not fun AT ALL!

  5. The way I see it... When he gets up in the morning and sees that the weather is bad he'll be on the phone calling to stay home.

  6. Back when I lived in Houston, TS Chantal came ashore...and no, you couldn't drive safely. Even though my boss wanted me to stay at work.

    No, sir.

It shouldn't be too bad, but I hope you're safe through it.
