SLUUUURRPP

That loud sucking sound you hear around town is the sound of the ground sucking up the rain as fast as it can. It was so dry, we're very glad to have the rain we're getting and the wind hasn't been strong enough to damage very much, though closer to the coast and where the storm came in, there have been reports of some wind damage, some branches and trees down, and a few damaged roofs.

We're just getting into the first of the stronger bands of rain. It's been raining steadily here and I swear I can hear the plants' shouts of joy. True to our area's nickname (Sahara Flats), most of the big cells come right up to us, dissipate and then reform as soon as they're past us. Sigh.

I can hear the rain beginning to pick up a bit. If I start feeling a little better, I'll go out front when it starts to rain really hard and take some pictures of actual water falling from the actual sky (okay, only the people who've been without rain for several months, --- Hi Up There In the Austin Area!! can truly appreciate this) and share the lovely sight.

Till then, I'm going to croak along. My voice is going fast.

  3. I'm glad you're getting rain and not the storm itself.
